How to judge dairy software before you buy
Six questions worth asking any vendor, including us. Our own answers are below each one.
1. Does it price the way my society already pays? Ask for the exact formula, not a yes. Ours are published: 52/48, 60/40, 100/0, fat-point, fixed rate, lactometer conversion, and rate charts in three shapes.
2. Will it read my milk analyser? Ask which models, by name. Ours: STPL and Ekobond, Ekomilk Ultra, Essae, EIPL and WySense, Lactoscan, Master Classic, plus STPL and EIPL weighing scales. The feature is marked Beta in our app and analysers on Classic Bluetooth connect on Android phones.
3. What happens when the network dies? Ours keeps recording on the phone and syncs later. Deleting an entry does need internet — that is a real limit, not a footnote.
4. Can I get my data out? Ours: no. There is no export today. Your data is backed up automatically and rebuilds on a new phone, but you cannot download a file. If that matters to you, weigh it.
5. What does it cost, and for how long? Ours: 30 days free, then ₹99 a month, ₹270 for three months or ₹999 a year, no registration fee, no limit on members or entries.
6. Who do I call at 6 in the morning? Ours: one helpline number, answered in Hindi and English, 9am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. Not 6am. Ask every vendor the same and compare the honest answers.
